Time To Reinvent You

So Is It Time To Reinvent You?

I closed one eye this morning and tried to touch my husband’s nose.Reinvent You
I missed it totally.
I tried again this tim adjusting for change and
you guessed it missed and got the other side of the nose.

I realised I had lost perspective.
So often when we are in the middle of something challenging we can loose perspective.
And totally miss the mark we think we are going for.
Yet what is important is being open with both eyes.

So when is it time to reinvent you?

Great question…

Let’s look at 5 questions to help you consider this question…

  1. So are you happy in your job? – (do you have job satisfaction?)
  2. Do you feel you have a future? you are looking forward to?
  3. Are you doing worthwhile work?
  4. Are you using your skills and talents or are you being squashed and minimised (hope not)
  5. Are you making a difference in the world? (it’s all about contributing)

1. So Are You Happy In Your Job?

Do you enjoy what you do,
In the most part,
Yes there will be parts of every job you may not like but that is life.
Overall do you feel you happy with what you do?

My husband is a master craftsman and he loves what he does
working with the different species of wood and
transforming the timber into amazing masterpieces.
Some people may say, but isn’t there a lot of sawdust.
When I first met my husband and asked him what he did,
He said I make big heaps of sawdust out of wood.

When he was a little boy he wanted to make things
Not big things like houses, smaller things.
Now years later he still does what he said he wanted to do
Even though he is grown up.

Compare that with a job I did
Which felt like it was slowly killing me to the point
I wasn’t happy in the job.
It got to the point where my Doctor advised I give up the job.

2. Do You Feel You Have A Future?

Do you feel you have a future in your job…
Is it going where you want it to go.
Or are you happy just doing what you do without looking forward
That’s ok too.

Just some people look further ahead and look for security.
In a world where security isn’t necessarily there.
Often the only safety gap is in what you do and prepare for as an individual.
Not waiting for other people, companies, departments to control your future.

3. Are You Doing Worthwhile Work?

Do you feel you are doing worthwhile work?
Besides giving you an income at the end of the week
Do you feel what you are doing is worth doing, and worth doing well?
Or are you simply filling in hours
Not becoming alive with what you doing
Perhaps even shutting down your emotions so you can get the job done.
Looking forward to the weekend, holidays, breaks?

4. Are You Using Your Skills And Talents?

Are you using your skills and talents in your work environment.
Yes there are times for hobbies where you can use all sorts of different skills and talents.
Discovering a job that allows you to be you is important.
When you are in a job which isn’t valuing your unique skills and talents.
You can feel more like a robot a human doing and not a human being.
You may be shutting down your emotions to make work happen.
If you are start looking for something which can be more challenging for you.

5. Are You Making A Difference?

So are you making a difference in what you do?

We all love to contribute it is one of the drivers of life.
Making a difference is important for us as humans.
When we pass by this place again can we see what we have created?

What will we say to our loved ones if we don’t make the changes in our live
And don’t make a difference…
How will it help the next generation from our experience.
How will it help other people with our story….?

So Is It Time To Reinvent You?

Only you can answer that question…
Don’t change in a moment,
Prepare for change, start applying for jobs or
Begin that home based business in your spare time.

Be all you were born to be…

Be Amazing!

cropped-mirror-man.jpgYou ARE Amazing!

You Are The Hero!

Hard times don’t create heroes.

It is during the hard times when the ‘hero’ within us is revealed.
-Bob Riley-

can I chooseCan I Choose?

Every choice I make is a step into becoming a hero? Who would have thought that? A choice seems like such a simple thing…isn’t it?

Everyday I make choices…What to eat, What to do, What to watch, Do I exercise or not? Do I eat chocolate…now…or later?

Are my choices easy…maybe not easy, but these days they usually need to be quick.
I can remember waiting for a child lets call her Helen to choose a packet of lollies at the service station obviously on a long trip, more on Helen later.

Consider: this common belief – it is better to make a decision fast then not make a decision at all- because at least when you have made a decision you can always change it. Research says whenever we make a decision, we go momentarily insane, choosing between the two options in our mind to make a choice.

I don’t know about you, but some decisions get very complex. Like choosing where to move to or how to move my business forward…there seem to be so many options… so many possibilities and which one is right?

Maybe there is more to consider then just once fast decision. Maybe Helen was considering more then I knew?

Consider this…

When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.

-Roy E. Disney –

Values in decision making, mmm that is something I hadn’t considered.  So when was the last time you stopped and thought about your values? Let’s stop right now…could you give your top 10 values in the next 30 seconds?…what about a minute?…what about a day?

Spend Time?

There are workshops on everything these days and as part of personal development there are usually a component which includes understanding your values. So if we take a look at what you spend your time on? In your waking hours, what do you spend most of your time on? What’s the next thing you spend the most time on? I can hear you say, but…I need to work, sleep, eat… yes that is true… you move towards what you value… is it media…tv…learning…partner…family…exercise…who do you carve out your time with… everybody gets the same 24 hours in the day…the same 1440 minutes in a day… the same 86400 seconds in a day… are you choosing wisely or something else…wasting life?

Maybe Helen’s values weren’t clear in choosing which lollies…if the person had an allergy or a particular dislike in the choosing… or was it that Helen was considering the whole family in the choice – Dad doesn’t like caramels, Mum doesn’t like mints, Sister doesn’t like licorice flavour, Brother doesn’t like… maybe Helen was trying to make everybody in the car happy in her decision.

Tough Times?

Ever had tough times? Been through hard times?
When things didn’t work out the way you wanted them to?
You may have hoped things would work out differently?

Yet… You wake up the next day and you seem to still be in the same cycle…Everything looks the same, yet you want it to look different…
You look and keep looking for a change.

Secret Sauce?

You realize 2 things :-

1. you can pass the buck and blame

2. you can begin to take responsibility.

I once heard someone say how you spell blame is B-lame so lets move on from that no more being lame.

When I begin to take responsibility for my life I realise the secret sauce of life…

“zero changes till I change.”

The secret sauce of life is to experience living!

Loving living!

If it’s to be it’s up to me! and I can do it!

I’m no longer wasting time waiting on other people for choices, decisions.

It’s time for me to stand up and be counted and to change my life – because zero changes till I change…

Somewhere, somehow we are taught to shutup and listen and we are taught from a young age 5 years of age we are in classrooms learning to follow the rules, for the next 12+ years we are taught school. The Uni where they want us to think again…for ourselves, trouble is we have to fight for what we believe, we have to fight for our dreams, which we almost lost in our schooling systems.

When we are born we are brilliant…during school we discover strengths and weaknesses and we work towards our strengths… and we move into a job and work for 20+ years maybe have a career…yet deep inside us we know we have a purpose… we know we are wasting our time and energy in someone else’s business, maybe getting someone else rich.

When is it our turn to do something for us? When is it our turn to live our dream, when is it our turn to reinvent ourselves? You may have got a redundancy or got sacked or whatever happened that got you to this moment in time where you have a choice…

You can choose to procrastinate on your dream… it’s ok its all subconscious, you don’t realise you are doing it, you can find a old job… It’s ok because yes, your dream will keep appearing, every moment you get a moment to stop and breathe…that deep longing inside you to make a difference, to leave a legacy, to help someone doesn’t go away… you may quiet it momentarily, you may numb it, you may make life so busy you can’t hear it.

And in the quiet of a moment you will know

if you are… living your dream,
if you are experiencing living.
if you are living to your values,
if you are living to your strengths,
if you are using your brain
if you are living your choices,
If you are living your integrity.

Finally…

Always remember “You Are The Hero”  &”Zero changes till I change” Enjoy the journey of discovery – remember you are worth every moment – cherish it because this is the beginning of the rest of your life! This is where You Begin to Experience Living! Where you discover -Your Hero is Revealed!

A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.
-Christopher Reeve-

A Hero is no braver then an ordinary man, but he is brave 5 minutes longer.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson-
